ARINC LAX Motorola Type 1 Trunked Radio System [Source: SoCalScan] Jerry, Field Service Technician for ARINC, was kind enough to share this information on ARINC's LAX transission from a Motorola Type 1 system to a Motorola iDEN radio system. Hello All, Just a note to let everyone know that Aeronautical Radio Inc. (ARINC) is in the process of transitioning it's Motorola type 1 trunked radio system (0816) at LAX to IDEN (same type system as Nextel). We have already disabled 2 frequencys on the trunked system (threw the switches myself) and they are now IDEN. The latest cutoff date for the trunked system is 31 January 2003 (was 30 September 2002). The IDEN channels are digital. This gives us a 6:1 increase of number of subscriber units on the system for all except the first channel (856.7875) due to the first time slot acting as the control channel so to speak. All airports where we have trunked systems are in transition at this time. All current IDEN sites are linked through Annappolis, MD allowing airport to airport communications if the subscriber so desires. You can get further information at www.arinc.com (look for "Avinet") or email me with questions and I will answer what I can. Frequencies: 860.8875 Trunked (Control/Analog Voice) 859.8875 Trunked (Control/Analog Voice) 858.8875 Trunked (Control/Analog Voice) 857.8875 IDEN (Digital) 856.8875 Trunked (Analog Voice) 857.7875 Trunked (Analog Voice) 856.7875 IDEN (Digital) Jerry Field Service Technician ARINC Los Angeles Maintenance Center El Segundo, CA Thursday, August 29, 2002
MilCom Recordings [Source: SoCalMilCom; Freq Of Nature] ![]() UPDATE A collection of MilCom Recordings have been added to Freq Of Nature. Most of these recordings came from the SoCalMilCom Yahoo group where they were going to be deleted to make room for more files. A special thanks goes out to Jay and all the other folks at SoCalMilCom for providing these awesome recordings. Monday, August 26, 2002
Tampa Street Fountain [Source: Freq Of Nature] ![]() UPDATE On Scene Photos of the vechicle vs. fire hydrant have been posted to On Scene Photos. Ironically, while on my way to get the car washed during lunch, this large plume of water was seen just up the street. The car was dropped at the car wash and I made my way up to the scene where I took these photos. It turned out, after talking with a security guard, that a vehicle had hit the hydrant and the driver then went to the Kinko's store to call for assistance. |
