American Heroes Airshow 2003
[Source: American Heroes Air Show Network]

Buckle up for excitement when the nation's premier aviation event devoted exclusively to helicopters lands Saturday, July 19th at the Hansen Dam Recreation & Sports Complex in the Lake View Terrace area of the San Fernando Valley.

Since 1993, this admission-free event has been dedicated to the unique capabilities and dynamic role of helicopters in law enforcement, fire service, public safety and the military. With aircraft from local, regional, state and Federal / DOD agencies, get an up close look at why these aircraft and their crews are on the front line of homeland security, national defense and public service.

Explore the evolution of helicopters from elegant lines of Classic Rotors Museum's restored Piasecki HUP-1 "Retriever" to the life-saving, Hi-Tech muscle of the "Firehawk" helicopter from LA CO Fire Dept / Air Squad. It's a unique opportunity to meet the crews and, after learning about the dynamic community service mission of helicopters, you'll understand why these aircraft and their crews are the first tool out of the toolbox in times of natural disaster or homeland security threats.

Plus, have your camera ready and introduce your entire crew to many of the Southland's most well known celebrity / media pilots and news reporters plus get an up-close look at the aircraft you see them in every day for traffic and news reports.

MORE THAN JUST AN AIR SHOW
More than just an Air Show, the American Heroes event also features the Code 3 Career Fair which brings together recruiting teams from the military, police, fire, government service, volunteer agencies and all military services to profile what they do and how you can be a part of the action.

These recruiting teams from many of today’s “Top Gun” agencies offer information and personal insights on:
• Mission of their organization in today’s dynamic world of security and safety
• Hiring criteria and entrance testing schedules.
• Unique gear and equipment available.
• Salary and compensation ranges.
• Discover the personal attributes needed for success in today’s law enforcement, military and public service organizations.
Recruiting space is free to public service & military organizations

The Heroes event also offers the annual favorite, the "Rollin’ to the Rescue" presentation of vintage police, fire and emergency vehicles as they roll into the event and set up for static display throughout the day. Over sixty emergency service vehicles plus members of LEMA - Law Enforcement Motorcycle Association will roll Code 3 from Burbank to the event site - scheduled to arrive at 10 am.

The SAR SITE1 program introduces the community to many of the finest Search & Rescue teams from mountain, urban, swiftwater, canine and Combat / SAR organizations. Check out technical rope rescue demos and learn how you can join the action as a reserve volunteer - part of a local Search & Rescue team. Explore canine SAR capabilities with demonstrations and teaching resources.

The FIRST IMPACT presentation offers guests with information and resources on emergency preparedness tactics for businesses and community plus family tips for Internet safety from the FBI’s Citizens’ Academy Safety Squad.

Our traditional collectible event trading cards are back and available free in limited quantities to early bird arrivals. The cards this year feature the Boeing AH-64 Apache Longbow attack helicopter used extensively by the U.S. Army in Iraq. Plus Award presentations on stage, entertainment, concessions and much more.
