The Verdugo Fire Communications Center concept dates back to 1978 when the Fire Chiefs of the Cities of Burbank, Glendale, and Pasadena recognized the need for a regional communications center. Prior to this time, the Burbank and Pasadena Fire Departments were dispatched by their Police Department Communications Centers. Today the Verdugo Fire Communications Center provides radio dispatching services for the cities of Burbank, Glendale, Pasadena, Arcadia, Monrovia, Monterey Park, San Gabriel, San Marino, Sierra Madre and South Pasadena. |

|
In November 2002 the Verdugo Fire Communications realigned all of their radio channels for a number of internal reasons, mostly for better coverage and to provide additional channel capability for the nine cities they dispatch for. This was also an opportunity to change which channels to place their units on, to help with a needed reorganization. |
