Interagency Communications Interoperability System (ICIS)
From Freq Of Nature
Interagency Communications Interoperability System (ICIS) (pronounced “Eye-sis” like Isis, the Egyptian Goddess of fertility) is a UHF trunked radio system serving municipal communities in the greater Los Angeles area. The system first went live in 2003 when the City of Glendale first brought its component piece of the network on line. Since then several other cities have brought their systems on line including the cities of Burbank and Pomona. As of November 2007 the City of Montebello is scheduled to go live and the cities of Beverly Hills and Culver City under contruction.
The ICIS network is the most advanced municipal radio system in the Los Angeles area. The system covers from the San Bernardino County Line to the Pacific Ocean and provides the ability for it’s users to communicate with one another from anywhere within the footprint of the network.
Safecom Interoperability Continuum
Unlike most shared municipal radio systems, each agency owns and operates their own radio system. ICIS is simply an agreement to share their networks so that every radio on the system can take advantage of the wide area radio network.
