MURS uses narrowband FM (NBFM) with maximum effective radiated power of 2.0 watt, and a maximum deviation of +/- 2.5 KHz. MURS is intended for short-range local communications. No license is needed. Radios suitable for use on the MURS channels are now available from dozens of different manufacturers.
