These radios use the old LAFD 33 MHz channels, and each boat has them. This gives each boat crew their own tac channel for ship-board coordination, and a radio for each member of the crew. The 33 MHz channels are numbered in the 30 series (33.60 = Tac 31, etc..)
"Ralph J. Scott"
The boat was built in 1925 not far from where she sits today. The boat was originally powered by gasoline motors and later replaced with the safer diesel engines.

"Couriosity"
Looking down from a cat walk that nearly encircles the boat from above, you can see a courious little fellow checking out the bridge of the Ralph J Scott.
A Bit of History
Several stories about the "Ralph J Scott" were told. One story told about how the boat had lost one of it's prop shafts. With the boat quickly filling with water from the 3 inch hole where the shaft used to be, a quick thinking engineer stuck a wooden plug in the hole to keep them afloat until they reached the safety of shore.
