Squad 4If you recall the television show "Emergency"
then you should recognize this modern day variation of Johnny and Roy's
paramedic vehicle.
This is one of two Paramedic Squads in Ventura County. In
addition to the two Paramedic Squad's there are several Rescue Engines which
have paramedics and their equipment on them.
Thanks to technical advancements in building fire codes and
public education fire department dispatches mostly are of a medical nature.

Fire Safety HouseThis Fire Safety House is used to
educate the public at events like this on how to keep your home safe.
Firefighters were on hand to give children the thrill of
playing dress up by donning them in firefighter garb. While these children
only had to deal with the insulating garments for a short time in the hot
mid day sun, a poor fellow was dressed up as a dalmatian named "Sparky" to
entertain the kids.

with the exception of a period of one year when an interim fire chief
decided to paint procured apparatus that year fire engine red.

"In Memory of our Fallen FDNY Fire Fighters"
Each generation has their own defining conflict and, like
the previous generation, ours was brought promptly into focus in the early
morning dawn.
Like the past generations front line troops, who painted symbols
of determination on the flying fortresses that took them into battle, the
latter generations first responders paint symbols of
determination on the steeds that take them on scene to the front lines. |
