VCFD Urban Search & Rescue

On display was a device that is used to listen for the faint sounds of a survivor. The bright orange cylinders are extremely sensitive microphones that are daisy chained together. These microphones are laid out in a grid pattern to narrow down the location of possible sounds from trapped victims.

This is an optical illusion. Thanks to a  telephoto lens I was able to capture this image from a safe distance.

As I was watching this all I could think of was the last scenes from the movie "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World" where Spencer Tracy along with the rest of the male actors took the ride of a lifetime a top such an aerial latter. All that was missing was "The big double U".
