This is a burning building training in Simi Valley, California. This was a joint exercise between Ventura County and Ventura City Fire Departments. The building was "donated" to the fire department by a local church who planned to demolish it.  This is a Light & Air unit that is responsible for filling oxygen bottles as well as lighting the scene. This vehicle is equipped with generators to power the compressors and lights. The lights were not used during this training exercise but when they are used they can turn night into day.
TE2 Engine 31 stationed in Thousand Oaks. During the exercise they hosed down the engine probably to keep it from getting too warm from the fire.
It's not often that you will see a Ventura City unit in the City of Simi Valley since the two cities are about sixty miles apart. Dramatic pillars of fire engulf the building, soon to be vacant lot. Prior to setting the building on fire the interior was gutted and the material was burnt on a lot a few yards away. To initialize the burn bails of hay were placed at strategic areas inside the building and set a blaze.
Hey chief, who brought the marshmallows? This is a Ventura City Paramedic/Rescue Engine. It appears to be much more than the pickup trucks converted to paramedic squads that the county uses while not being as large as an engine.
This is a picture of the rear of the Ventura City Paramedic unit. It's too bad the lighting is so poor but this is as good as it gets with a simple flash camera. There were a lot of firefighters with fixated stares as they watched the dram unfold before them.

Proud to be an American! TE2. This one goes in my best of collection.
Time to bring in the heavy equipment. After the fire had it's time at the building the dozer got it's turn. In just a few minutes all four walls were down and with more oxygen for the fire a new tempest of flame erupted from the ashes of the structure.

After Mary-3 was relieved from traffic detail blocking the street off he rode down to the scene to have a look-see. This isn't him, this is just his motorcycle. So that's what an antenna tuned to 160.785 Mhz looks like.
Mary-3 on channel one. "SMILE .. I COULD BE BEHIND YOU". Mary-3 gave a quick demonstration of the vehicles code-3 lights.
