| Introduction |

|
TeamSpeak is a software program designed by computer gamers for online multiplayer games so they can communicate verbally during their game play. Since these games take a large toll on computer processors and these gamers only require radio quality audio this software was designed to use very little computer resources and bandwidth. This just happens to be the same features desirable for audio chatting and broadcasting radio scanners online. Radio Scanner Voice Network is a cooperative group that hosts TeamSpeak servers for the radio monitoring community. While there are many excellent dedicated online live radio scanner sites, their programming is often limited to a static list of radio frequencies. The Radio Scanner Voice Network takes up the slack by providing a forum for all to broadcast dynamic events in their area without the pain of setting up their own dedicated servers. Features Overview - TeamSpeak is a server/client software that allows IRC like chat with high quality, low bandwidth audio. Some of the advantages of this software include... - FM quality audio Say goodbye to CPU/Bandwidth hogs - Unlike the popular music broadcasting software that we've been subjected to using for our simple needs, TeamSpeak doesn't eat away at our computing power and strangle our precious bandwidth. Buffering...92%..74%..87%..99% - TeamSpeak is a very stable program, unlike the infamous buffering and complete systems crashes of other <ahem> real popular audio and <ahem> music player software. Interact with others - It's cool to be able to monitor live radio traffic at an event or incident well outside the range of your receiver, but it's even more enjoyable when you can join in live discussions with others who are monitoring the same event or incident. Even if it's a slow news day, this can be a great forum to simply chat with your fellow hobbyist. TeamSpeak supports full duplex audio chat (you can all talk at the same time like on a telephone conference call). If you don't have a microphone, don't want to talk over a live scanner broadcast or your just audio chat shy, you can always communicate via text with your keyboard. You can even send private messages to others. No device driver piracy - TeamSpeak does not interfere with your sound device drivers so you can play or record with your sound device when your in a chat room. TeamSpeak even includes it's own recorder so you can record the chat room audio without the need of launching another software program. It's a Freebie, Zip, Zilch, Nada - You can download the free client software from teamspeak.org |

| My feeble mind was sufficient enough to
successfully install both the client and server software in about the same
time it took to download it, so it should be a walk in the park for you. To
make the entire download to chat process is even simpler, the kind folks at
the Tampa Bay Radio Page have provided a step by step tutorial. Just click
on the following link. http://home1.gte.net/res0plht/teamspeak.htm Scanner Buff Network also has an excellent tutorial that covers just about every aspect of teamspeak for the radio scanner community. |
